SUTHERLAND CARAGANA

This single stem tree variety of the beloved Caragana is versatile, low-maintenance, and eye catching. Offering a captivating display of color throughout the year, it’s a popular choice for landscapes in colder climates. The fine, feathery green leaves, and glossy bronze bark bring an arid dessert like feel, providing a striking contrast with more typical broad leaf Alberta trees. In early spring it speckles with small yellow flowers giving way to bright yellow fall foliage and finally an almost metallic statue figure in the winter. Being in the legume family; they also produce accessible nitrogen in the soil, fertilizing other trees and plants in the vicinity! Never a dull moment with these guys.
