Tree Removal & Pruning In Stony Plain
Stony Plain’s old town core has some of the biggest elms and spruce west of Edmonton, planted back when the town was a railway stop, and they’re due. A lot of what we do in town is pruning those big old trees properly: deadwood out, weight off the house, elms done in the legal window. The newer subdivisions on the south and west side are mostly young trees that need a structural prune or two before they go wrong.
Then there’s everything outside the town limits. Parkland County acreages between Stony Plain, Spruce Grove and out toward Wabamun have poplar and aspen shelterbelts that were planted decades ago and are dying off in bunches. Clearing a dead row, dropping a leaning spruce by the shop, grinding thirty stumps in a day, that’s acreage work and we do a lot of it.

Perfect experience having a tree pruned. The crew did a great job, on time, courteous and left the sight spotlessly clean. Estimate was easy, and prompt, as was scheduling the work. Couldn’t be happierPosted on Google![]()

Edmonton Arborists were fantastic through the whole process. They were communicative, quick to respond, and happy to answer questions. They were able to schedule the removal of our tree within a week of the quote coming back, and the 4 man team were excellent. They were efficient, did a great job, and spent the time to clean up our yard once they were finished. It was overall an excellent experience, and we would absolutely have them back to do any other services we may need.Posted on Google![]()

What We Do In Stony Plain
- Tree removal: dead, dangerous, too big for the lot, or just in the way. Climber or bucket truck, chipped and cleaned up the same day.
- Tree trimming and pruning: deadwood out, weight off the limbs over the house, fruit trees opened up, elms done inside the legal window.
- Stump grinding: $215 for a single stump, done the same visit as the removal or on its own.

- Storm damage: limbs on roofs, split trunks, hangers. Text a photo and we’ll triage it.

Stony Plain Specifics
Old elms. Same rules as Edmonton: prune only October 1 to March 31, elm wood gets disposed of properly, never stacked as firewood. We handle it. If someone offers to prune your elm in summer, that’s a red flag.
Shelterbelts. We can take the whole row or just the dead ones and leave the rest. Multiple trees are priced as one job. Firewood stays on site if you want it.
Lead time. Stony Plain is in our regular rotation, not a special trip. Normal lead time is under two weeks and travel is built into the quote.
Why Edmonton Arborist
Edmonton Arborist has been doing this since 2018 and we’ve got 850+ Google reviews at 4.9 stars to show for it. Three-person crews, our own bucket truck, chippers and stump grinders. Fully insured and WCB covered, and we’ll show you the paperwork if you ask (you should ask everyone). We don’t push chemicals, we don’t top trees, and we’ll tell you “leave it alone” when that’s the right answer.
Stony Plain Questions
Is Stony Plain in your service area?
Yes, along with the acreages around it. No trip charge, same prices as Edmonton.
Can you prune my elm?
Yes, between October 1 and March 31. Outside that window it’s illegal in Alberta, so we’ll book it for the season.
How do you price a shelterbelt removal?
As one job, by the crew hours it takes. Send a photo of the row and tell us roughly how many trees and we’ll quote it.
